With over 55 distribution warehouses and some 3500 retail dealers, Gardall Safe Corporation has made its presence known in the ever increasing, fiercely competitive field of safe manufacturing.
The evolution of Gardall can be traced all the way back to the 1930's when a successful Syracuse retailer named George Bloch began a safe manufacturing plant by the name of Protectall. With Bloch's sharp wit and business savy Protectall was soon doing a very respectable business. All of this fame and prosperity soon attracted the attention of a major competitive manufacturing rival Mosler Safe Company, who eventually bought the company for a sum of $1 million.
After the acquisition, Edward Mosler was appointed to head the company in Syracuse. With the help of Henry Bluestone, who ran the sales department when Bloch owned Protectall, Mosler successfully ran the company until 1949. At that time, Mr. Mosler Sr. decided to close the Syracuse plant and consolidate it into the main Mosler facility in Hamilton, Ohio.
At that point, Bluestone decided to start a safe manufacturing company of his own and named it Gardall Safe Corporation. After soliciting and eventually recieving some badly needed financial aid, Bluestone set up a crude, modest and mostly under-capitalized manufacturing plant.
During that time, Gardall was located in a building that was owned by the Falso family, also owners of Thor Metal Products. Gardall was experiencig severe cash flow problems and Bluestone was needing some help to stay alive. Bluestone approached the Falso's with an offer to purchase the controlling share of the company. He knew that with their sheet metal fabricating knowledge and ability to invest much needed liquidity into the business, he could turn Gardall into a profitable business.
Adolph and Raymond Falso accepted Bluestone's offer in 1970 and purchased Gardall Safe Corporation. Bluestone remained with the company doing what he did best, sales.
In 1978, Adolph Falso became a full-time employee of Gardall as its president. Under his leadership, Gardall continued to improve the quality of its products and introduced many offerings to the line. After almost 30 years of selling directly to dealers, Mr. Falso decided that the proper selling channel for safes was through regional distribution. In 1985 he began the process of converting his dealer business into a distribution-based business.
In 1986, Gardall was purchased by David Patton and Ed Baroody. At the time Baroody, a corporate accountant, was vice president of finance for a division of Shell Oil. Mr. Baroody assumed the role of President of Gardall.
Today Gardall Safe Corporation sells products in all fifty states and around the world. Gardall has become a recognized leader in residential, small business, and commercial grade safes. The quality and integrity established by George Bloch continue today. Modern manufacturing designs allow Gardall to continue to be recognized for it's security and functionality. This is a great safe. I have the manual combo. I didn't want to rely on electronics to guard my stuff. It will eventually fail. Manual will not. Would be nice to be able to set the combo...you cannot change it...but how hard is it to remember 4 numbers? Combo requires a series rotations...think highschool combo...but provided you could open your HS locker...you'll do fine with this. Inside is stark. I installed padding for protection. Included drawer is very basic and doesn't adjust. It is fairly heavy so keep that in mind. No issues so far at all with the safe. [...] Did not give this safe 5 stars because of drawer "basic-ness" and non-adjustment.

Safe is a good size. The interior needs compartments to maximize space and usefullness.
The bolt in the bottom portion sticks up and it is hard to place items on it.

Comments about Gardall Safe Corporation Quick Ship: Large Vertical Microwave Safe:
So far, it is easy to use and operate. It's small enough to make unnoticeable and it handles the current need.
The inside dimensions are not suitable for many documents. The storage tray is okay but has limited uses.
I do wish the burn rate was better as in most fires it's not the fire that causes problems to the safe's contents but rather the cool down period.

Easy to change the combination. Just follow the instructions exactly. Couple of dollars worth of hardware from the hardware store and it was securely anchored to my floor. I added a couple of 3M hooks for keys to the back of the door. Cannot store 8 1/2 x 11 documents vertically - have to be placed horizontally unless you remove the upper drawer. Has a nice footprint and fits nicely inside my closet. You may need some auxillary light to read the panel easily. All in all a great buy and it fits my needs exactly.

My wife and I are traveling in an RV and we needed a safe to hold our valuables and documents. As with most RV's room is limited but this safe fit nicely into a closet, I bolted it down and even made a shelf to fit over top of it. Works great, you can even have 2 separate codes to unlock the safe. It has a small slideout tray inside for change, jewelry, etc. Nice unit and very secure.

The safe is excelent, the lock feels very convincing and once bolted to the floor I feel that my posesions are safe. I used an alternative ground anchor as the one supplied wasnt too substantial so an extra $3 from the hardware store is no big deal.Would recomend this safe to anyone.

Comments about Gardall Safe Corporation Quick Ship: Large Vertical Microwave Safe:
It's well made and is great for all the normal things you'd keep in a small safe. They make an identical one in a horizontal design but this one takes up much less floor space. one negative- the manual combo-lock is difficult to use. The instructions are poorly translated from Korean. Once you figure it out (it's a bit more complicated than your high-school gym locker) it works fine. Not as convenient as the digital but unless you're using it every day it's not worth the extra $50.
Service and delivery comments:
Shipping was very quick. It is heavy- so make sure you have somewhere to put it when it arrives (box is about 2 1/2' square). One strong person can move it- but a dolly helps.

Safe has flimsy mechanism.I also wasn't too happy it didn't explain you couldn't change the combination. The picture mislead me too believe it could be.well hope you change the description concerning the combination can't be changed. I was gonna return it,but I decided I would use it for something.I also purchased a electronic one that the combo could be changed awile back through General Electric, and besides the Mechanism it was nice for the price.
